In today's class we learned how to further enhance and improve our writing skills. Our main topic is persuasive writing. We were shown by our lecturer the many examples of persuasive writing and then asked to identify and jot down the thesis statement, topic sentences, supporting details, transition words, verbs, words that we don't know of and also the many effective strategies used by the writers in the introduction and conclusion of the essays.
Through such an exercise, I was beginning to get familiarise with the structure and style of persuasive writing. I saw first hand how the writers used connector words and different effective writing strategies to make sense of their ideas, not only that but also to ensure that their ideas are connected fluidly with one another in a way that does not caused any kind of confusion to the readers. I have learned a lot by observing and adapting those strategies in my writing. By using those strategies, my work has definitely become more structured and less chaotic.
